Happy May! It's so bittersweet to think that this is the last full month of the 2015-16 school year. I'm so excited to see your students open the next chapter of their lives, whether it be high school or 8th grade, but it is also so sad to end this one! We've been doing lots of fun things in the math classroom as April comes to a close. Math 7 is still working hard at probability and statistics. Check out the photo below of two students flipping pennies to collect data. Math 8 has just started their statistics unit, and I'm excited to get them up on their feet to collect some real-life data, as well. Algebra is finishing up their unit on exponential functions and sequences. There are pictures below of a lab where we used bouncy balls to model exponential decay.

We also were able to spend a super fun day in our new maker space! We're so lucky to have a space where students can go to tinker and explore with STEAM ideas and machines. Here are some photos from our day of hands-on learning:

Students learn to design their own 3-d printer files that they will be able to print on our brand new 3-d printers!

A student learns about circuits with conductive ink.

Students practice coding sequences with these cute little bumble bees!
Students also recently got to meet with a dental hygienist concerning sealants. This is a great free option if you are looking for dental care. Here are two links with more info: https://multco.us/services/dental-sealants (this has the form and additional information) and this is a video explaining the process-- https://www.youtube.com/watchv=SN0shrSBJxo
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions as the year comes to a close. Looking forward to seeing you at the end of the year festivities to celebrate all of the awesome learning and growth that has happened this school year!
